Hey Raj…

Idk if you remember me. Keith got me in contact with you and we had one session. You helped me a lot then. I was prescribed Xanax at the time and I didn’t know how bad I was abusing it until I hit bottom. Spent some time in jail and then rehab. Heroin was always my drug of choice so the Xanax caught me by surprise when I realized I was addicted. However, I know have 6 months completely free and sober and working my recovery!

But I have to tell you, I spent 30 days in rehab at turning point in Pontiac. We were only allowed religious books or books about addiction. So I had my parents bring me yours. The way you broke things down and used analogies spoke to me in a way no one else ever could. When I finished I passed it on and 6 other girls read it. We even discussed some of what you wrote in our groups.

I just wanted to take the time out to personally thank you for all of the good that you do and the fact that you have dedicated your life to spread such a positive and accurate message about this disease. You are truly an inspiration! Never stop! I know you have helped many and I truly believe your words have kept me clean this long. You’re awesome!

Dear Raj,

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude and appreciation for your guidance and support this past year, which has been such a blessing to my life and my extended family, friends and my community.

Your personal and very humble early past life addiction experience coupled with your education and work experience in Substance Abuse Addiction Therapy has been a fine recipe for the credibility I needed for help in my path toward personal growth.

The impact that you have had on my personal commitment to a life of sobriety cannot be measured alone by the quality of time spent with your guidance in helping me navigate my way, but also by the overall essence of your commitment to the greater good of our community as a whole – and my small part in that end. It’s not just about reaching my full potential alone, because we are all connected and I know that when I get closer to mine, it passes forward to others exponentially. Seems deeper than the reasons for our first meeting together over nine months ago, but one which resonates with me.

I want to especially thank you for helping me understand that there is no shame attached to the mistakes I’ve made within the legal “system” – especially when my end goal is to correct them at every opportunity! Indeed I am a proactive woman, but the clarity needed for me to get there has been made possible by your very own personal commitment and guidance.

It makes me so happy to know you are out there helping others same as you guide me toward the most healthy addiction ever… this juicy, happy thing called Life 🙂

Very sincerely yours,

Lisa L.

I was introduced to Raj Mehta almost four years ago as our lives were swirling in the wreckage of my boyfriend’s cocaine and alcohol addiction. Since that time, I have learned a great deal from Raj about substance abuse and not only how it affects the addict but how it affects the “non-addict”. I thought I knew what his addiction was all about but in reality, I didn’t know much at all. All I knew was that it was destroying his life and mine. Raj educated me and helped me understand the things that I was doing wrong that only enabled my boyfriend to continue to use drugs when I thought I was genuinely helping him. Raj gave solid support, intellectual problem solving, encouragement and empathy in a respectful, non-judgmental environment. Not only does he truly understand what substance abuse is about but he also understands what the non-addict is experiencing as well. Most of all he gave me hope when things appeared hopeless. When we needed him most, he was always there. He was able to relieve my anguish and help begin a process that has taken us to a place we would have never thought possible. My boyfriend is now almost four months clean and sober and continues on his journey with counseling and continued growth in health.

Raj Mehta is a one-of-a-kind professional therapist who is exceptionally dedicated, truly committed and devoted to each and every one of his clients. He is an unwavering soldier and a hero in the war on substance abuse. I would urge anyone who struggles with addiction or has a loved one struggling with addiction to seek his assistance and guidance. It will be one of the best decisions you ever make. We are truly grateful to Raj and for all he has done for us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Dear Raj,

On behalf of me and my family, I want to thank you.
Raj Mehta is the closest thing we have to a superhero nowadays!
Thanks for getting my son to agree to get help in a treatment center.
We have tried for months with no success.
Now we finally feel a sense of hope.

Thank you Raj!

It was a pleasure to meet you as well. Not to be dramatic, but in the one hour we spent together, I think you may have changed my life. That’s amazing, you are an inspiration to every one of us trying to be honest and genuine health care providers. When I got home last night, I started to read the book you gave me and I couldn’t put it down. I have yet to read the hand-outs and websites, but I will. And I will keep you posted, I hope that I can meet with you again.

Thank you,

Karen M

Today I am going to talk to you about a very influential person in my life, Raj Mehta. Without Raj I would most likely be dead or in prison. When I meet Raj 4 years ago I was a heroin addict who had gotten a DUI and was teetering on the edge of joblessness, homelessness and becoming a hard core criminal. I couldn’t wake up without getting high I couldn’t work a shift at my restaurant with taking a break to get high. I could barely afford my habit. I was being evicted from my apartment and I had lost all hope. I got my dui on a night when I was trying to get clean from Heroin. I went to a bar and had 25 drinks to try to make myself feel better. I fell asleep at a stop light in the middle of a small town. I was struggling everyday not to be sick and to make it thru work and to pay my bills. I have been shooting heroin for 2 years straight and thought my destiny was a life of pain. I died 3 times from overdosing only to be revived by Ems or people I was with. I was ordered to take a class at Brighton Hospital with Raj. Little did I know that the teacher of the class was going to change my life forever. I felt an instant connection with him as he taught his class. He did a great job with his students. You can tell he is really passionate about addiction and kicking its ass. I was only ordered to attend his class for 10 weeks I have been seeing Raj for 4 years now. I attended his class weekly for 2 years. I have been seeing him individually also.
I tried to resist his charm and wisdom. But his good teaching and knowledge broke thru my layers of ignorance. While I was in his class I got a second DUI and was most likely looking at doing some jail time in Wayne County. Raj went to bat for me and kept me out of jail. He got me into Sobriety court in Plymouth. It has changed my life. I have been completely clean from everything almost a year now and am about to graduate from sobriety court in 2 months. I have a driver’s license! I am so happy and ready for what my life has in store.
My life has changed so much it is hard to believe. I am a fulltime student, full time employee who goes to the gym between 5 and 7 days a week. I own a beautiful 2 bedroom condo. I own a van that is fully paid for and will be buying my wife a car next fall because we are on opposite schedules and we will need a second car. I have 3 jobs I am almost always doing something that is working towards my future. I actually have a future to work towards! Today I am drug free and it is only because of Raj and what he has taught me. He believed in me when I thought no one else did, when I didn’t believe in myself. If anyone would like to ask me questions about Raj ask him for my number I was give you some honest feedback.

Sincerely,
Ryan F.

Raj and Serenity Therapy Center helped me in ways I could not help myself. Through recovery I have lead a new life both spiritually and mentally. Doors have opened to opportunities I would never have been able to see if it weren’t for Raj. I am a better person, friend, and accomplice to those in recovery. My life has changed drastically and I cannot thank Serenity Therapy Center enough for what it has done. I recommend everyone who has the chance to see Raj at Serenity Therapy Center. There is no doubt in my mind that I would not be who I am today without their help. It’s a gift that I am alive today and can live my life to the fullest. I owe everything I have today to Raj and the help he has brought me. Thank you Serenity Therapy Center!

“Words cannot express the gratitude that our family has for Mr. Mehta. He changed the path my son was on. His way of connecting with people is a gift. My son is on a path of reaching his full potential instead of ruining his life”

Raj has given me a different veiw on staying sober, and gives me realistic goals that I know I can acheive. I have never felt this confident with myself in my entire life. Raj is also very generous, giving me a free copy of his book and a t shirt on my first visit with him.

Your concern and genuine caring for our son has proven to be an answer to our prayers. With your guidance and wisdom, he has grown in so many ways; at work, relationships, outside interests, and most of all staying clean for the past year. I know he will continue to improve and be the person he is meant to be, with your continued therapy sessions. I would highly recommend you to anyone in need of help, I only wish we would have found you sooner.

Thank you for your caring, thoughtful ways and always being available in times of need. You are definitely not a 9-5, kind of therapist. We consider ourselves blessed to have found you.
